Prostate Cancer Symptoms
...
Prostate
cancer is accompanied by various symptoms, in this article we'll look
at prostate cancer symptoms.
It can be
difficult to discern the symptoms of prostate cancer because some of
the symptoms can be associated with other conditions or diseases. To be
on the safe side it is advisable that you book an appointment with your
doctor as soon as possible. This way you'll be able to detect any
problems at the earliest stage.
When you
visit your doctor he or she will be able to find out whether the
symptoms are caused by prostate cancer, or some other condition that
mimics the symptoms of prostate cancer. Your doctor will be able to do
this once you have been examined. During the examination your doctor
will ask you several questions in regards to your symptoms and you will
need to answer in order for your doctor to diagnose the cause of the
symptoms.
The
questions that you are asked may be slightly embarrassing due to the
location of the symptoms, the only way the condition can be diagnosed
is by you answering them. The examination is not a nice experience
either, however if you do have prostate cancer it can help to save your
life.
Prostate cancer symptoms include:
Frequently
feeling as if you need to urinate - This is more common just after you
have gone to bed.
- Difficulty urinating (
holding back and starting) - The flow of urine may be weak or
intermittent.
- Pain and burning whilst
urinating.
- Trouble getting and
sustaining an erection.
- Pain or stiffness in the
hips, lower back or upper thighs.
Only a
doctor can correctly diagnose whether or not you have prostate cancer.
If you are over 50 it is advisable that you have a prostate exam every
year, as people over 50 are more at risk of developing prostate cancer.
The earlier prostate cancer is detected the higher the survival rates.
