Obesity Treatment

The most common approach to treating obesity patients is more physical activity coupled with a low carbohydrate diet. There are many companies cashing in on the obesity epidemic by selling weight loss programmes, in some cases they claim to have almost instant results. The harsh reality is 9 times out 10, the claims these companies make about their products are untrue. Most of these products do not have any research to back up their claims, and wouldn't get a recommendation from the medical community.

If you do a bit of research you'll notice that most weight loss programmes out there are based on the low carbohydrate diet, however research suggests that it's long term effects are no different to that of a low calorie carbohydrate rich diet. Although the low carbohydrate diet is popular the medical community is divided over whether or not it is safe in the longterm.

Another approach for treatment of obesity goes by the name of Ayurveda. In Ayurveda obesity is known as a disease that goes by the name of "Medoroga". Ayurveda focuses on the prevention of obesity by adopting a healthy lifestyle. The reason why some people choose Ayurveda as their method of treatment is because natural products are used in the preparations of medicines. As a result these medicines tend to be safer than chemical based medicines and drugs which can have severe side effects. Another reason why people choose Ayurvedic medicines over conventional obesity drugs and medicines is because these medicines have been in use for a long time, which implies that they are reliable.

Another alternative approach to obesity is Homeopathy. Homeopathy focuses on treating the patient rather than the disease. In order to treat a person for obesity the constitution of a person has to be taken into account. The constitution of a person is their physical, emotional and intellectual make up. Since every person is different there are no pre-made prescriptions for obesity as they wouldn't work on everyone. Anyone intending to use homeopathic medicine needs patience because significant results appear over a period of time.

Yoga is another alternative approach for obesity treatment.Yoga advises that it's followers lead a healthy lifestyle, this coupled with specific yoga techniques helps to clean the body from toxins and intellectual and emotional balance. Some people look into yoga as a form of obesity treatment because it covers a spiritual aspect of life, which modern treatment ignores.Yoga meditation can help reduce stress which is a cause of over eating, and the breathing techniques help fight obesity, they also keep the respiratory system healthy, which is important because many obesity patients suffer from respiratory conditions.

As you can see there are various approaches to obesity treatment, however it is advisable that you see a doctor before starting any form of treatment.
